11/10/2017 0 Comments Why I don't visit my own chess clubI hate to admit it but chess life online rules! I visit my PoCo chess club when my schedule allows but it's tough because my kids must be shuttled to and from Japanese school on Thursday nights. But no worries. If tonight is any indication, life online will be just fine.
Today I got to blitz against four IMs (International Masters) on ICC. Gavin Crawley, Miguel Ortiz and Marino Cid. The fourth IM, Slavisa Peric played me 17 games in a row, beating me 9.5-7.5. What a thrill. It's a giant free lesson in one night. It's well worth the cost of the server. In the position below I saved the game with a draw. The White King is boxed in and checks don't help. White eventually pushed b6 and it was a draw after Black took on g3. It just required a check on g6 first to avoid mate. IM Slavisa Peric- NCM Vas Sladek, ICC, 1/2-1/2
